Matthew S. Merriott is a Partner at Mullin Hoard & Brown practicing in commercial and general civil litigation. He has represented clients in a variety of litigation matters, including contract disputes, real property rights, construction defects, insurance coverage, and collections.

In lending matters, Matthew has represented both banks and debtors in disputes involving lien priority, lender liability, and contract interpretation. Much of his experience includes agricultural lending, including a dispute over lien priority in which he obtained a summary judgment for over $4 million in cattle proceeds.

Matthew has represented heirs in probate and trust disputes. He has also represented heirs—and other business owners—in conflicts over closely held businesses and jointly owned assets.

Matthew practices at both the trial and appellate level. He has handled appeals before Texas intermediate appellate courts, the Texas Supreme Court, and the Federal Fifth Circuit.

Matthew graduated from Texas Tech University with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance in 2014. He earned his law degree from Texas Tech University School of Law, summa cum laude, in 2017. He is licensed in Texas and New Mexico.
